Why Am I Suffering?

Arduino + Sekiro. Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

2021. Exhibited in Sound no Sound Sporting Club, Valencia (Spain)

Why Am I Suffering proposes a critical approach to the current gamer culture, based on the difficulty of videogame design through a reactive installation that translates the beats per minute of a Sekiro player into frenetic mechanical scratches on a piece of ceramic. With this approach we aim to reflect on the existence of this type of hardcore experience through the sound translation of the nerves and anguish experienced by the player when playing Sekiro, and how the current state of gamer culture; a culture based on competitiveness and individualised self-improvement promotes this type of experience over others based on collaboration and sharing.
